Parry’s Beach Campsite, Denmark

If you are looking for a camp in Denmark, you must set up camp under the peppermint trees at Parry’s Beach Campsite.

Who doesn’t love a warm shower and a flushing toilet? It’s not a deal breaker but it’s a nice welcomed luxury. Parry’s Beach Campsite is a great campground nestled under the huge peppermint trees about 25 mins out of Denmark. The Campsite is both beautiful in Summer with the beach on your doorstep and cozy in winter by the fire.

Where is Parry’s

Located 30km’s out of Denmark town, Parry’s Beach Campsite is just 25mins from Denmark.

Parry’s Beach is just a short 100m stroll from the campsite so you can walk to the beach for a swim or a fish. The campsite is just 10mins from William Bay National Park, where you can go explore Green’s Pool and Elephant Rocks.

Getting there

415kms from Perth CBD. Usually takes approx 4 ½ hrs driving via Albany Hwy and heading through Mt Barker. The campsite is situated at the end of Parry Rd, Parryville. Which is 20mins West of Denmark town.

Camping at Parry’s

There are times I am happy to forego some luxuries when I’m enjoying a secluded beachside camp. However, Parry’s Beach campsite has all the luxuries without seeming like a “traditional” caravan park. It’s a great quiet unpowered campground.

There is ample space between campsites and trees separating the sites. With 41 sites total, its a good size capm. The entire campsite is underneath the most amazing peppermint tree canopy. We have stayed here multiple times now and been so happy with each campsite. There are large sites, van sites, tent sites and group areas.

In my eyes a traditional caravan park is just jam packed with caravans and no definitive line between sites. Not a fan of that. Luckily, Parry’s Beach campsite is not a traditional one. If you need a little space or want to feel like you are in the bush or in nature, Parry’s has you covered.

When I camp I want to be far away from society not surrounded by the hustle and bustle of a caravan park. However, Parry’s Beach campsite is an exception because there are usually plenty of sites filled but its still not over crowded.

Facilities

Parry’s is unpowered so generally draws in people that are equipped to survive a day or 2 without power or bring their own. There are plenty of tent sites and caravan sites, however there are limited sites if your vehicle is over 2.7m, due to the tree canopy.

It has 2 large ablution blocks that are kept really nice and clean. Most sites have a fit pit so outside of the summer months you can enjoy a glass of Denmark pinot noir by the fire. You can buy fire wood for $10 a bag from the camp host. There are bore water taps around for cleaning dishes but no drinking water. You have to bring your own. There is also a very basic campers kitchen/shed if you need.

It is a popular fishing spot so the do have designated fish cleaning stations too which is nice.

Surrounding attractions

Locally there is heaps to do in Denmark. Everything from visiting Denmarks amazing wineries, like Castelli, Single File or Forest Hill. Local brewery Boston Brewing Co.

If you are into bush walking and hiking, visiting the Monkey Rock lookout is a great hike and you can also walk part of the bibbulmun track. If, like me, you are into Kayaking there are some good locations we wrote about HERE “10 amazing locations to SUP or Kayak in WA”

Denmark is also home to the infamous Elephant Rocks in William Bay National Park. Green Pool and Lights beaches are also worth a visit. Really you can’t go wrong with ANY of the beaches in denmark, this coastline is stunning.

Or if you don’t want to go far from your campsite Parry’s is situated on “Parry’s Beach” is a 4wd beach, so if you have a 4wd you can go explore the bay. The beach itself can get really windy because it faces South West, but the bay has lots to offer. Rock fishing, 4wd exploring, beach hangs, beach fishing (which is quite popular).

Cost Per Night:

$17 per night for 2 adults, $3 per child and $8.50 per additional Adult.

Only downfall to Parry’s is the fact that you can’t book in advance. Everytime we have been we have managed to snag a more than ideal spot, once on a long weekend, another time outside of school holidays and once in winter. There was plenty of availability, however I  imagine during the school holidays and christmas holidays it would easily get fully booked out. So be prepared to be turned away in the summer holidays.

Final thoughts

I don’t know if you can tell, but we love Parry’s… Parry’s Beach is an inexpensive alternative to Margaret River. Yes it’s a bit further but it has just as much to offer with its lovely wineries, amazing beaches and stunning forests to explore. The campsite is so lovely and has all the facilities you need.

We would recommend 3-4 nights so you have time to explore the national park, surrounding areas like Valley of the Giants and Pemberton. Plenty of wineries and hikes you can do to, Kayak or just explore the beaches.
