11 Oct Warroora Station: Ultimate Camping Guide
In this Warroora Station Ultimate Camping guide, you will see why this is (in my opinion) the best camping along the ningaloo coast. Its an amazing adventure holiday destination to visit up the Coral Coast of WA.
Warroora Station is a family run, working cattle station, along the picturesque Ningaloo (Nyinggulu) Coastline. This coastal camping destination offers some of the best beach camping I have done to date. Not to be missed if you are equip for an off-grid style of camping adventure and own a 4wd.
With multiple beachfront campgrounds to suit all styles of camping and just meters away from the pristine water of the Ningaloo (Nyinggulu) Reef.
Getting There:
1050km North of Perth – Approx 12 hrs drive
Approx 1hr South of Coral Bay.
The Station has a north and southern entrance, depending on the site you choose will depend on which entrance you use.
Lets face it, 12 hrs is a long drive for anyone. There are multiple ways to break up the journey to make it easier on young passengers. Refer to this blog post with 20 campgrounds up the Coral Coast for some stopover ideas or holiday destinations HERE.
My top stops would include a night or two in Kalbarri, which is a manageable 7hr drive with lots to explore in and around Kalbarri. Or Galena Bridge (6 hrs north of perth), this is a free riverside rest stop, suitable for a place to stop for the night/ 24hrs only.

About the station.
A few years back the state government took back the coastline (approx 1 km inland and stretching the entire station coastline). The Department of Parks and Wildlife now controls the camping and environmental conditions along the coastline.
This is a positive move to monitor erosion, wildlife and protect the coastal sanctuary areas. Also allowing for an easy online booking system. HERE.
The First Nation people have given WA permission to return the Ningaloo coast to its indigenous title – Nyinggulu. We respect the wishes of the first nation people and will refer to Ningaloo as Nyinggulu throughout this post.
You will need to drive through the station to get to the coastal camping tracks and be sure to grab a pic at the Homestead.

Camping Options at Warroora Station
There are multiple camping bays at Warroora however they are all 4wd access only. In this Warroora Station camping guide continue reading for a full breakdown of the sites available. You can camp at the homestead which is 2wd accessible, however you will not be able to access the beach without a 4wd or off road capable vehicle.
There are no facilities at the beachside campgrounds, you will need to be fully self sufficient. That includes water, food, fuel and toilet facilities. There are conveniently 2 dump points located at the North Entrance Track and the South Entrance for chemical toilets/caravan toilets, along with skip bins. The homestead has a very small store for ice & firewood.
10 beachside campgrounds.
- 14 Mile Campground – 46 sites (25 premium beach front camping, 21 sites set back in the dunes). Suitable for all rigs.
- Amherst Point – 5 campgrounds, tents only.
- Black Moon Cliff Camping – 11 campsites – tents, rooftop tents, trailers. Not suitable for caravans.

- Stevens – 18 campgrounds – all camping styles (tents, caravans, trailers etc)
- The Ridge – 18 sites – cliffside.
As you can see there is a plethora of sites available however during the peak season its commonly booked out well in advance.
The beaches are all stunning and lend themselves to water activities and water sports, fishing, snorkeling etc.

Best time of year to visit:
May – Oct is classed as peak season. However keep in mind that the fringe seasons are still good but you may experience some unseasonable weather conditions like excessive wind or the occasional rainy day.
When you are remote beachside camping its important to take note to make the most of your experience.
What to expect when visiting Warroora Station Camping.
Expect to have a little 4wd adventure getting to your campsite. The 4wd’ing is not too extreme however you will need a standard high clearance 4wd to access some sites and / or an offroad caravan or camper trailer. If you are inexperienced it is manageable and relatively easy 4wd’ing.
Choose your sites carefully because they will stipulate what is easily accessible with a caravan, camper trailer/boat or tent. All caravans or trailers should be offroad otherwise you do run the risk of damage. Not all sites will be suitable for towing, so read site info on booking carefully.
Don’t Leave home without these items:
- tyre pressure gauge / compressor / Max tracks
- chemical toilet (if camping)
- snorkel equipment

Final Thoughts
Warroora Station is a fun experience.
The campsites are next level, amazing beachside camping. If you are new to beachside camping, watch HERE for some tips and tricks.
Definitely choose the peak season to optimize the weather. Specifically the wind. During the offseason the wind may be less than ideal and ruin your camping / beach experience.
